The British Virgin Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the northern part of the Virgin Islands archipelago in the Caribbean Sea. They consist of 36 islands, the largest of which is Tortola. The capital is Road Town, home to a third of the territory's 22.6 thousand inhabitants. The main occupations are farming and fishing, though tourism also plays a significant role, drawing around 100 thousand visitors a year. The islands are also known as a tax haven. The best time to visit is from December to April, when the weather is dry and warm.
