Dimensions and weight of checked baggage

Virgin Australia allows to carry checked baggage in the price of the air ticket. Economy class passengers can bring one piece of luggage weighing 23 kg, and business class travellers are allowed to take two pieces weighing 32 kg. The sum of the three dimensions of the bag must be less than 140 cm. Suitcases that exceed the permitted weight will be charged with additional fees.

Hold baggage at Virgin Australia

Hold baggage can weigh a maximum of 7 kg. As part of this weight you can bring one suitcase with dimensions of 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm or two smaller ones with dimensions of 48 cm x 34 cm x 23 cm. Virgin Australia gives its passengers the opportunity to take one personal item on board: a laptop, a handbag, a camera or a blanket.

Virgin Australia offers passengers traveling with babies and children free transport of necessary items, such as a stroller, portable bed or baby carrier.

With Virgin Australia you can travel in one of several booking classes. The basic class is the economy. It offers its passengers comfortable and cheap flights with the possibility of ordering meals and drinks on board. The next class is premium. Its passengers can count on additional leg space and access to on-board entertainment. On top of that, they can enjoy the chef’s menu. One of the highest classes is business. Travelers of this class have access to many facilities, including a private work place, reclining chairs and exclusive dishes of the well-known Australian chef Luke Mangan.

To respond to emerging passenger needs, Virgin Australia offers easy free online check-in. All you need is an electronic device and Internet access. Check-in for domestic flights can be done no earlier than 48 hours and no later than 45 minutes before the planned take off. For international flights, check-in is possible at the earliest one day before the flight and no later than 90 minutes before the start.

Models included in the Virgin Australia fleet are mainly Boeing family aircrafts: Boeing 737-700, Boeing 737-800 or Boeing 777. On top of that, the carrier has two models from the Airbus series: Airbus A320 and Airbus A330-200 and one Fokker 100 model. In total, the airline has over 130 aircrafts.

Virgin Australia gives you the opportunity to set up a Velocity membership card. Initially you get a Velocity Red card which allows you to start collecting points. Points are calculated for the use of services of Virgin Australia and its partners. You can use them to upgrade your card to Silver, Gold or Platinum rank and purchase additional amenities, including priority boarding, a larger baggage allowance or access to exclusive showrooms at airports. The number of points received depends on the route and the booked class.

For passengers with special dietary needs, the menu board includes, among other things, children’s meals, gluten-free dishes, vegetarian and vegan dishes. During long-haul flights, you can order special meals that are not on offer. However, it should be done no later than 48 hours before the planned start.

Brisbane Airport is the largest airport in Queensland and the third largest airport in Australia. It is located about 13 kilometres northeast of the city centre. Passengers can use the passenger terminal for domestic and international flights, as well as General Aviation Terminal and two runways. There is a taxi stand next to the terminals, and in between there are airport buses which you can use for a small fee. There are car parks with short and long-term parking options located nearby.
