Hand luggage and checked luggage in Qantas
Regardless of the selected class, passengers of Qantas can take only one checked luggage included in the price of air ticket. For oversize luggage or more bags it is necessary to pay an additional fee. Depending on the booking class or a membership card the maximum weight limit changes. Qantas has prepared general guidelines for hand luggage: it must be of a size that allows it to be placed under the seat and confirming to the carrier’s guidelines, furthermore, it must not contain dangerous or illegal objects. Hand luggage may contain, among others, prescription drugs and maximum 1 liter of liquor placed in closed transparent bag. Passengers of all classes can take one hand luggage on flights within Australia, in the price of air ticket.
Booking classes of Qantas airline
Qantas offers 4 booking classes. Economy class travel is a cheap flight where passengers have at their disposal a hospitable Qantas crew in the price of air ticket and also fresh meals, the latest movies and music on board. Passengers of the Premium Economy class have spacious seats and larger legroom. Moreover, they have priority on board and access to extensive menu. In business class, travelers has priority on board, private airport lounges, fold-out seats and dishes prepared by accomplished Chiefs. First class is the highest one in Qantas range. Its passengers have at their disposal a personal crew, transfer to the airport, priority boarding, special check-in area and also access to the SPA at the airport.
Online check-in at Qantas
An Australian carrier allows passengers to choose the way of check-in. In addition to the traditional check-in at the Qantas airport, you can check-in online or via mobile app. The app allows you to check-in for all of the domestic flights and selected QantasLink flights. You can check-in in this way no earlier than 24 hours before the flight and no later than 30 minutes before the flight. Whereas, check-in and selection of seats for international flights can be done 24 hours before the flight and no later than 90 minutes before the gates are closed. In case of online check-in for domestic flights you have to do it between 24 hours and 30 minutes before the flight.
Qantas planes
The Qantas fleet consist of the most modern aircraft models. Including Boeing 747, Boeing 737, Boeing 717, well known aircrafts of Airbus and B787-9 Dreamliner. In 2018 the airline had 130 machines at its disposal. In addition to this Qantas has planes from the Flying Art collection. In cooperation with Aboriginal artists, the carrier prepared designs of motifs referring to the indigenous Australian culture which decorate hulls of these series.
Additional services in Qantas
Qantas airline offers its regular customers a loyalty program. In order to join it, all you have to do is to fill in an application form on the carrier’s website or exchange Qantas Points for a Qantas Club membership card. Passengers who already have this card can invite their friends to the club at a reduced price. Card owners have a number of benefits, such as access to Qantas lounges at the airport, priority at check-in, larger luggage limit, discount for airport parking and much more.
Qantas headquarters – airport in Sydney
The largest Australian carrier has its headquarter in Sydney, on Sydney Airport with IATA SYD code. It is located on the Pacific Ocean, 9 kilometers south of the city. It’s one of the oldest airports in the world and one of the airports with an exceptionally high capacity which annually handles about 40 millions of passengers. From the Sydney Airport there are international and domestic flights from different carriers. At the airport we can find 3 terminals, of which the 3rd terminal serves only domestic flights from Qantas. The airport is very well connected with surrounding places by public transport. In addition, it has a separated parking zone, where we can book a place online. The sooner we do this, the lower fee we can get. Review of flight experience.
Aircrew were very nice, but the food was average. Plane seats were very cramped, but this is probably the same for all airlines. The short hop from Sydney to Auckland, the seating was even more cramped and I am not a big person.

Outstanding
Flight attendants on Qantas were outstanding and it was apparent from the first minute they were making extra effort. I couldn’t praise them highly enough. We had a long wait at Singapore for “ refuelling” but it may have been as much about waiting for an electrical storm at Perth airport to pass.

Stuck in middle seat
There were outside seats free and I was put in the middle seat of what are, without a question, the worst seats I've ever travelled on.

food was dismal
qantas staff were really good at keeping us hydrated, much appreciated, but the food was not great. The feta and chard pie on the midnight flight from Perth to Melbourne was beautifully hot but inedible for me. Too salty and 'specialised' in is content.
